This creates local manufacturing of essential chemicals and will help shorten regional supply chains, reduce dependence on imports, and support the fast-growing battery-minerals sector.
Over the past two years, the project team has been advancing the development through its required stages. The Environmental Impact Assessment is now in its final approval phase, the land for the facility has been secured, and engagements with local leadership are ongoing. Once operational, the plant is expected to create 195 permanent jobs, generate significant tax revenue, and deliver long-term value to local industry.
This marks an important chapter in Botswanaโs emergence as a regional centre for battery-mineral chemical manufacturing.
